Icky Day vs Anniversary

The 14th of February, Valentine's day or as I like to call it 'Icky day'. I have never liked Valentine's day.  Sure it's a celebration of love and there is nothing wrong with that. I just don't like that fact that hallmark invented a holiday to make money. It's the same reason I don't really like Mothers' day or Fathers' day. I love my parents but I don't like the thought of being obligated to buy them things just because someone says that I should. If I was a parent I'd rather receive a gift spontaneously and thoughtfully rather than 'Oh it's mothers' day, I have to get a gift'. (not that mothers' day gifts aren't genuine)  Anyway back to Valentine's day, I don't like the hype, everything's pink and red and heart shaped and the focus is strictly on romantic love.  Hearts, chocolates, roses it's all symbolic, let's get out of symbolism and into realism. The reality of what love really is. Not lust, not mushy lovey dovey Hollywood style, not romance. Love. Stand alone, entirely for someone else's good, not expecting anything in return, selfless, humble. God shows us the ultimate example of love in Jesus.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 1 John 4:10
Alright enough of my pooping all over Valentine's day, don't get me wrong I love, love and I love celebrating love and showing people that I love them. Another very special event happens every year on the 14th of February. Yes, ironically my anniversary is the same day as Valentine's day.
Two years!

Two years of love, of growth, of learning, of laughter, of forgiving, of joy, of learning about God together.   (I could go on and on by mushyness is not my style.)

His present to me: A beautiful Pandora charm that says love in different languages.

My present to him: An engraved key to my car
(if you knew me you'd realise what a big deal that is)

What's new pussycat?

It's already partway through Feburary and I've well and truly  broken my attempt to write one blog a week. I have a couple of half written ones on backlog and hopefully by the end of the year it will averadge out. I haven't posted anything since we moved Nanna in January (she is settling in well).

The rest of misssion was great; great people, great kids, great location, all serving our great God.

My family and Scott's family went camping up at Barrington Tops for the Australia day long week-end. I had the most perfect night the night we arrrived; went night swimming by the light of the full moon in the creek with rapids. (I know it sound cliche but it was truely and absolutely B-E-Autiful!) Shaggy came too!

She might be little, but she has big personality and we love her!

She wasn't super keep on the water.

FWDing

I've now done the first three weeks of my Swedish Massage course (Back and legs: front and back). I'm loving it. I've been doing quite a few casual shifts for Tiny Tutus over the last two weeks, but still looking for mor permanant work. Fridge is exploding with new kids! Praise God!  I think that's about all that's interesting right now.

Moving week

It has been a week of moving, and it's only Wednesday! Kaz moved out on Sunday :(. We had just taken the tarp off my car when it started bucketing! So there was a mad dash to unload in the middle of a thunderstorm. In the end only one drawer was broken (totally not my fault......)
And praise God a bed became available in the nursing home closer to where we live, for Nana! So we are moving today, (sitting in foyer now waiting for addmission).
I have been finding it very interesting how a person's entire  belongings can be packed up into a few (or more than a few!) boxes. All their personal possesions, mementos, paintings, awards, childhood memories, photos etc. All packed into a few boxes... It kind of sad actually.

Anyway......

And I MIGHT have moving news of my own soon....

Informed to Inform

Food for thought the events that are happening now in our generation; our grand children or perhaps children will learn about at school. Think about it your grandparents lived through two world wars, great depression etc all things we learn in history at school. The events of our generation will become the syllabus for the next generations history books. Do you need a better reason to be informed about current events? You can be a first hand source for future generations! I want to be able tosay to my kids "Yeah, I lived through that, I was there, ask me about it."

The end of the world as we know it....

It's the last day of 2012. I guess I should do the obligatory 'reflection'.
It has been a year of: travelling, learning, disappointments,
long chats, deep conversation, God revelations, rants, venting, tears, joy, questions, questioning, doubt pain, giggles, fights, family, adventure, new friends, old friends...

I sure that there are countless things that could be said about this year. I like to think it has been a year of growth.
Twenty-twelve may not have been my best year to date but I have a feeling/am hoping twenty-thirteen will be awesome! (after all 13 is my favourite number (; )

Merry, happy Jesusmas!

Another year, another Christmas has come and gone. I had Christmas with the Morrisons the Saturday before Christmas say. Then had Christmas with Mum's family Christmas eve, took lunch up to the nursing home and ate and ate and ate... Lol. And church at St Marks Christmas day then Christmas lunch with Dad's side of the family.
I was going to post photos of my Christmas presents but I decided against it, all you need to know is that I was pretty spoilt and extremly blessed.
Christmas is not about the gifts we send or recive but The Gift that was given. 2000 years ago God sent his son into the world to save humanity! That is pretty awesome!!

This year's Christmas tree decorated by yours truely.

Eye update....
So I was suppost to be leaving for mission this morning. However, my eye looked like this when I woke up this morning. So we tredged off to Sydney Eye Hospital. Got a whole lot of new eye drops. Potentially have conjunctivitis, though they're not sure if it's contagious so we'll see if it heals in a few days and then hopefully will head down to Gerringong.

I trust that you had a very merry Christmas and I wish you all the best for the new year!
